The Port Broughton District Hospital and Health Services Health Advisory Council Inc was established following the introduction of the Health Care Act 2008.
Who are we?
We are the community elected health council for your health service.
The Port Broughton District Hospital and Health Service Health Advisory Council comprises
- 6 community members including
- 1 Health service staff nominee
- 1 Medical Representative
- 1 Local Government representative
What do we do?
We are the health FACE for our community.
Our role is to:
- Facilitate discussion in our community about health issues, priorities and needs.
- Advise and advocate on behalf of the community.
- Communicate and consult with the community and with Country Health SA on behalf of the community.
- Engage with the community and evaluate progress.
Port Broughton District Hospital and Health Service Health Advisory Council also holds an account, for receipt of donations and bequests made to the Health Service

Background
Port Broughton District Hospital & Health Services (PBDH) aim is to provide a range of appropriate services that are responsive to community need.
The enhancement of Community Health services including Health promotion has been the main focus for growth. This focus complements the acute services provided.
PBDH provides a wide range of community support groups which ensures Community participation .
The promotion and support of the Primary Health Care committee is a priority and ensures that representatives from a wide range of services and consumers have input and discussion on needs and issues facing the District Council of Barunga West.
