Country Health SA Aboriginal Professional Employment Program Scholarships

Ten places are offered to full time or part time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students currently studying or about to commence an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline, and full or part time Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students currently studying or about to commence a required graduate or professional entry course which will lead to the student, upon graduation, being fully qualified to commence clinical practice.

Applicants must reside in or have resided in rural South Australia prior to undertaking their tertiary education.

Funding is awarded for up to 5 years of study depending on whether a student undertakes full or part time study. Full time students are provided with $5000 per year in two half payments of $2,500 for up to 4 years study for your undergraduate degree. This amount is adjusted for part time students according to study load.

This program includes a guarantee of employment within Country Health SA upon successful completion of the recipient’s university studies. Program recipients are still required to work in a rural public health service for Country Health SA upon completion of their course for a period equivalent to the number of years program funding is awarded.

Places are awarded for disciplines employed within a rural health unit: Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health (e.g. Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, and Physiotherapy), Business Management and Aboriginal Studies.

Allied Health students please note: applications will be accepted for both undergraduate and graduate entry courses. The course must lead to the student, upon graduation, being fully qualified to commence clinical practice.

Please note: at the time of application you do not require your University acceptance to apply for the scholarship. If you are successful in winning a scholarship you will then be required to provide proof of acceptance and enrolment.
