The Riverton and Health Services is part of the Yorke and Lower North Health Services. Our hospital is a 27 bed complex, with seven beds for people receiving active medical treatment and 20 aged care beds. We have inpatient care in general medicine for adults and children, as well as palliative care.

Community nursing and allied health services are also available at this site via HealthLink referral.

Accident and emergency

A 24-hour service is provided.

When you arrive at the emergency department you will be seen by the duty nurse and triaged to collect information and assess your illness or injury. Doctors may not always in the hospital but will be called by nursing staff as required.

In a medial emergency, it is important not to 'self present' to hospital. SA Ambulance Service emergency medical dispatch support officers can provide advanced first-aid advice over the phone while an ambulance is on its way to you.

The on call doctors are private GPs and at some hospitals the doctors require payment of a gap fee. Please bring your Medicare card and concession cards when accessing emergency departments.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours are generally between 10.00 am to 2.00 pm and 4.00pm to 8.00 pm. You can contact the hospital to arrange to visit outside these hours.

The building is wheelchair accessible and there are toilets for people with disability. Please ask at Reception.
